Pilot's uniform and hat question?
Some pilots i see them wearing a white stripes shoulder shirt and some pilots i see them wearing a golden colour stripe shoulder uniform and what hats have what positions like i see on pilots have different looking hats
There is no international "standard" for a pilots attire, but the jackets are usually AF or navy blue and have gold or silver stripes on the epaulets (shoulderboards) and the end of the cuff of the jacket. As the stripes go, 1 stripe usually isn't used but, when used, usually indicate a trainee/apprentice status, 2 stands for a flight engineer most of the time, 3 is usually a co-pilot, and 4 indicates pilot status. As far as the hats go, they are called service caps or guild caps (normally service). Most airlines don't have different caps for rank because a small isignia is hard to see on a cap from far away, obviously gold stripes stand out from a long ways away. The whole point of the uniform is to provide a professional appearance, you wouldn't want to fly on a plane that is flown by some greasball like the pilot in the first Indiana Jones would you. The uniform inspires false confidence in the passengers. I hope I answered all your questions and you learned somthing new. And predator, they are not modeled after the USAF uniform; haven't you ever seen a pair of Class A dress blues!?
